Show him that you have confidence in your self and high self esteem by getting out and about, instead of sitting at home obsessing over the situation. Make sure that your ex boyfriend understands that you are taking the break up in stride, and that if you two were to get back together, it will be on an even playing field.

Another problem with acting needy and too readily available is that you set yourself up to be used by your ex boyfriend if you got back together, or by someone else. Confidence is everything, and a healthy dose of it will ward off those that are looking to use you, including your ex boyfriend.

Another step to take is to make sure you are taking of yourself and looking good when you are out. If you don't usually eat healthy, start now. If you don't usually work out, start exercising now. Make sure you look good when you go out anywhere. Don't overindulge in alcohol. Even if you can't get your ex boyfriend back, taking care of yourself will give your self esteem a huge boost.

Everything that I have outlined for you works best if you use it all in concert. Don't try to use just bits and pieces, put everything together and you will be well on your way to a confident attitude and an understanding of how to get your ex back.
